About the Principals



James B. Cowan
Partner, RiverCross Partners, LLC 

Jay is a founding partner of RiverCross, as well as Managing Director of Business Owner Exit Strategies, LLC (BOES, LLC). He has been working with business owners and shareholders since 1980. Jay obtained his B.A. from the University of Richmond, and has two professional designations from The American College: Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). 
 
Jay’s focus is working with owners to develop successful exit strategies, for whenever and however that transition may take place.  
 

Dorothy A. Allen
Partner, RiverCross Partners, LLC 

Dottie is a founding partner of RiverCross. She has been in the financial services industry since 1974. Dottie is president-elect of the Virginia chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), due to her work specializing in women-owned businesses.  For further information on the Richmond Chapter of NAWBO, you may visit their website at www.nawborichmond.org.    

Dottie’s focus is working with owners on the design, implementation and management of corporate benefit plans for key employees and owners of privately-held businesses.
